I am returning Malta for Comic-Con 2017.
Really looking forward to it.
Malta Comic Con is one of my favourite conventions. It’s run by some great people who with enthusiasm energy and and friendliness built an amazing event. I was fortunate enough to be invited to the very first event way back in 2009. I have watched Malta Comic Con grow and develop into what is now an established event on the convention calendar.
I am a guest at Malta comic con 2016. I am really happy to be returning to Malta, to catch up with all my friends and see whats new with the local cartoonists. This will be my 8th visit to Malta, and the con is a great experience. I will be tabling and also presenting a talk about my new project, The Arts Council funded The Voice Of The Hall. We have both grown over that period of time, and I look forward to more adventures.
Yay Malta !
I will be at Thought Bubble and Malta.
I do a lot of con sketching, and always happy to oblige.
But I would really like to offer some quality work. Mostly my
work is on as a quick Instagram post via a blurry photo.
Although a majority of my comic work is digital, I still make a lot of Analogue illustrations.
I have never considered taking on commission for conventions.
Do you think there would be interest.
Throwing this to the Interweb
It’s the last two events of the year for me, Leeds Thought Bubble and Malta Comic Con. A great way to end what has been a very busy con season.
At Leeds I will be in the New Dock Hall sharing a table ( 77 ) with the ever wonderful Howard Hardiman.
For both events I will be selling the usual comics, plus a couple of new works. Necessary Monsters – Murderbox, parts 2, 3, 4 also Trees and Heads. I will also have a bunch of screen prints made earlier this year.
Sadly I didn’t get it together to finish, Rain On Glass. This will now be ready for Angouleme 2014, which the Dessinators ( Sally Anne, Francesca and Oliver ) will be attending .
Francesca did an amazing job organising the application, and also put together the required anthology. Details on her blog.
Final publication news is that I took part in the Amsterdam Zine Jam, sending some comics and getting a really cool catalogue in return. I would have liked to have gone to this one. Maybe next time.
Finally, I’ve been filling little sketchbooks with drawings of people on the way to work. But made them fit in the Nec Monster world. I have two sketchbooks, that will have a painted cover. If anyone is interested in buying them, I will have them with me at Leeds/Malta. ( I think £15 for one ).
Thanks for reading, hopefully I will see you at one of these events. Enjoy the rest of the weekend 🙂
I have been slack in updating whats happening with the comics biz. Drawing and day job and drawing and day job, round and round. The time has passed SO quickly and still so much to complete.
So that is the current frame of mind. I have a whole bunch of events I’m participating in, two of which have been and gone. First up was Milton Keynes fest, organised splendidly by Paul Rainey. Was a really good event and was good to be surrounded by the work of Pushwagnerer.
Next up was the Bristol Zine fest. Again a really good event. I hadn’t been in Bristol since the last con at the tram shed. This was held in a veggie cafe, so a lot of my sales were spent on food – yum. Good to share a table with Lizz Lunney, and good to meet organiser Nick, and to catch up again with Simon Morteon.
Lizz is involved in organising the Birmingham Zine Fest ( there is a theme developing here ), and that is the next gig. Following this is MCM Comics Village, Leeds Thought Bubble and Malta Comic Con. The organisers have announced another stellar event, and also that I’m one of the guests this year, which is nice.
Actual comics are still in the process of being completed, but I did have a page in Off Life, details here.
There is more but I have to dash to work …
